The Best Houston Heights Restaurants

It is no secret that Houston is full of delicious food, and the Houston Heights restaurants are among the best in the city! Along with being some of the top realtors in Houston, the Shawn Manderscheid Team loves taking advantage of the huge number of mouthwatering options right outside of our office, and we’ve compiled some of our very favorite options below.

BB’s Tex-Orleans

BB’s Tex-Orleans moved into the neighborhood and quickly became one of the best Houston Heights restaurants. Located at the intersection of White Oak Drive and Studewood Street, this delight offers delicious po’ boys and Houston’s best Tex-Orleans cooking. Started in November of 2007, owner Brooks Bassler decided that he wanted to create a distinct menu with the food customers wanted at the time they wanted it. With options for dine-in, catering, and take-out during all times of the day, you can enjoy Tex-Orleans wherever in the Heights you may find yourself.

Helen in the Heights

Do you ever find yourself craving Greek food? Located at the corner of Studewood Street and 11th Street, Helen in the Heights has you covered. You’ll love the cozy atmosphere of this up-casual Greek bistro that features homestyle Greek dishes, a myriad of Greek wine and cocktails, and a knowledgeable staff that is more than happy to help you find exactly what you’re looking for. With fantastic dishes served all day long and happy hour prices on drinks, Helen in the Heights is one of the neighborhood’s finest restaurants.

Field and Tides

For a truly unique dining experience, head to Field and Tides on the corner of Beverly Street and East 11th Street. This fine restaurant has an open canvas menu that reflects Executive Chef Travis Lenig’s immense culinary knowledge. Lenig has a myriad of different culinary specialties that range from Southern, Italian, French, and Asian food. The name of the restaurant is taken from “Field,” which represents the locally sourced pork, poultry, beef, game, and vegetables, and the “Tides” that refers to seafood. With daily lunch and dinner specials and brunch served on the weekends, Field and Tides is a spot you don’t want to miss!

King’s Bierhaus

Do you love beer? How about German food? Located on E T C Jester Boulevard, the King’s Bierhaus is the perfect place for your next night out! Featuring a menu that fuses German, Austrian, and American cuisine as well as hundreds of beers, this restaurant has something for everyone. King’s Bierhaus takes great pride in smoking all of their meats in-house and seasoning their food with delicious, natural Himalayan Crystal salt. Credited with developing the BierHaus concept, there are few restaurants as innovative as King’s Bierhaus.

Cane Rosso

On the corner of West 19th Street and North Shepherd Drive sits Cane Rosso, serving up your favorite Italian fare. With everything from Italian-themed brunches to garlic cheesy bread to mouthwatering tiramisu, their main attraction is their authentic wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas. Utilizing the freshest ingredients, and adhering to the strict pizzamaking principles of Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, Cane Rosso is certified as a “true Neapolitan pizzeria.” With a full page of different Neapolitan pizza options, you will not find a pizzeria quite like Cane Rosso.

Teotihuacan Mexican Cafe

We couldn’t possibly compile a list of the best Houston restaurants without including a Tex-Mex restaurant. Teotihuacan or “Teo” Mexican Cafe has been ranked as one of the very best Mexican restaurants by both the Houston Press and The Houston Chronicle for years. With authentic Mexican recipes and ingredients that are always fresh, you are sure to experience a wonderful meal. In addition to their delicious food, they also offer happy hour prices on margaritas, beer, mixed drinks, and micheladas all day Monday through Wednesday as well as Thursday and Friday from 2 pm through 6 pm. Whether you are looking for a fantastic meal or a place to start your night on the town, stop by Teo Mexican Cafe on Airline Drive.

Sam’s Fried Chicken and Donuts

Southern comfort food is a longstanding staple of Houston’s rich history, and Sam’s Fried Chicken and Donuts offers the best. With chicken that has no antibiotics, growth stimulates, hormones, and are fed a completely vegetarian diet, you can be certain that the poultry you are receiving is the freshest in the industry. You also have the options to choose from different sauces made fresh in home. It wouldn’t be Texan without Southern comfort sides such as cole slaw, creamed corn, mashed potatoes, french fries, and potato salad available to choose from. Don’t forget the donuts! Sam’s Fried Chicken and Donuts offers cake donuts made fresh in-house daily. With unique flavors such as blueberry and vanilla with Mexican chocolate icing, these are some must-have treats for everyone.

Boomtown Coffee

While the Heights is full of many wonderful coffee shops, one of our Houston Heights realtors’ favorites is Boomtown Coffee. Located on 19th Street and Rutland Street, Boomtown is the perfect place to settle in and enjoy fresh, Texas-brewed coffee. Offering a cozy vibe to supplement their delicious coffee beans, everyone feels at home as soon as they step into the coffee shop and smell the inviting scent of coffee brewing. They also offer different pastries and desserts made in house if you start feeling peckish.

Cloud 10 Creamery

Located at Heights Boulevard and West 7th Street, Cloud 10 Creamery is the premier spot for ice cream in the Heights. The handcrafted ice creams and sorbets are blended a half gallon at a time, allowing for the unique flavors and premium ingredients to shine through. There is no artificial flavoring, no extracts, and no additives in any of their products. Along with delicious frozen treats, Cloud 10 Creamery offers a comfortable interior that allows you to look out the window and enjoy the sights and sounds of the buzzing Heights. This is the perfect place to get dessert after visiting one of the aforementioned restaurants!
